Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp beef drippings
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp cold water

Instructions:

  1. Place a medium saucepan over medium heat and add the beef drippings, melting until they shimmer.
  2. Stir in the onion powder and garlic powder, toasting for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Slowly pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a gentle simmer for 3-5 minutes until the liquid reduces slightly.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water until completely smooth to create a slurry.
  5. Reduce heat to medium-low. While whisking the gravy constantly, slowly drizzle in the cornstarch slurry.
  6. Continue whisking for 1-2 minutes until the gravy thickens to a velvety consistency that coats the back of a spoon, then remove from heat immediately.
