Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice, rinsed
  • 2 cups beef broth, low sodium

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add ground beef, leave undisturbed for 3-4 minutes to form a crust, then break into crumbles and cook until browned.
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Stir in butter, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 60 seconds until garlic is fragrant.
  3. Stir in the rinsed rice, coating the grains in the garlic butter until translucent at the edges.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and stir once. Bring to a boil, then immediately reduce heat to low, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15-18 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let the skillet rest, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
