Ingredients:
- 1.25 cups all-purpose flour (150g)
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened (113g)
- 0.5 cup light brown sugar, packed (100g)
- 0.25 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- 2 tablespoons whole milk (30g)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (4g)
- 0.5 teaspoon fine sea salt (3g)
- 0.5 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips (90g)
Instructions:
- Heat-treat the flour: Place flour in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between, until the temperature reaches 160°F (approx. 2 minutes). Alternatively, bake on a sheet at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
- Allow the flour to cool completely, then sift through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any clumps.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with a hand mixer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture is pale and aerated.
- Add the vanilla extract, sea salt, and milk. Mix until well combined and emulsified.
- Add the cooled, sifted flour to the wet ingredients. Mix on low speed until just combined to avoid a gummy texture.
- Fold in the mini chocolate chips by hand until evenly distributed.
