Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions:

  1. Place the raw ground beef into the bottom of the slow cooker and gently break the meat into large chunks with your hands or a spoon.
  2. Sprinkle the combined seasoning blend (chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper) evenly over the meat.
  3. Pour the beef broth around the edges of the pot to ensure the spices hydrate.
  4. Cover with the lid and cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours, avoiding lifting the lid during the process.
  5. Once cooking is complete, use a wooden spoon to break the beef into small, uniform crumbles and stir well to incorporate the juices.
